Redis version seems old in Laragon

  • | 2171 points

    Hello,

I have Laragon 3.4.0, it looks like the latest redis stable version is 5.0 but in laragon it looks like it comes packed up with redis 3.2.1, is there a way to get the redis 5.0 in laragon please?

    Thank you.

The windows port of Redid at https://github.com/MicrosoftArchive/redis is apparently no longer maintained, but there is a fork at https://github.com/tporadowski/redis/releases.

I think you could just replace laragon's redis with that (though i haven't tried it yet myself). If this what you're looking for, then you could give it a try

Tested by myself in Laragon 4 full!

By the help of @kidipridi :)

Download redis setup zip file from https://github.com/tporadowski/redis/releases and extract in laragon\bin\redis folder using new folder name of the zip file name.

Search for 'redis' in below files and set the new version folder name and save.
    laragon\usr\laragon.ini
    laragon\bin\laragon\laragon.cmd

Then you must stop all laragon service and exit laragon application.

Then restart laragon and new redis version should work fine.

First of all, I'm aware of the fact that this topic is six-months old at the time of writing but I feel this message could help others.

In addition to the post above by hasnatbabur, that only installs Redis itself, you should also go get the PHP DLL that will help PHP do the connection.
On PECL, click on the DLL link in regard to the Windows Redis version you just grabbed. My Redis version was 5.0.9, so I clicked on the link for the 5.1.0 version.
Choose your php version, platform (32/64 bits) and thread-safe/non-thread-safe version (look up how to get this info with phpinfo() if you're unsure) and unzip the file. Copy only the php_redis.dll file into your {laragon directory}/bin/php/{your php version}/ext folder.
Finally, right click on the Laragon tray icon, open the php/extensions submenu and click on the new "redis" entry that should show up. And voila.

Looks like your connection to Laragon was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
