    How do you import from flywheel?

    When I copied sites over all I would get is error establishing database connection? Is there a way to import from flywheel?

    @forcedlogic : Did you change the connection information?

    In Laragon, the default username is root and empty password.

  • | 1245 points

    Which connection info? I couldn’t find any information on the website for this? Can you detail the process?

    @forcedlogic : On the configuration file of your project, there will be a PHP file that contain information to connect to MySQL, just change it.

    $DB_HOST = 'localhost';
    $DB_USER = 'root';
    $DB_PASSWORD = '';
    $DB_PORT = 3306;

    Did that. Still says error establishing to the database. This is even after the changes you mentioned above. Does local by flywheel lock these down?

  • | 1245 points

    Database also doesn't show up in myphpadmin

    Any other suggestions?

    @forcedlogic : It seems that your MySQL doesn't work. There are many reasons. Coud you provide mysql log?

  • | 1245 points

    @leokhoa How does one get a log from that?

  • administrators
    | 125646 points

    @forcedlogic : Just click Menu > MySQL > mysqld.log

    @forcedlogic : Can you rename B:\laragon\data to B:\laragon\data.bak
    Then start again?

  • | 1245 points

    Yeah it didn't work. Still got Database error.

    My assumption is that local does something different than the typical WordPress install. Because of this you can't use it outside of local unless you are maybe using a backup to a blank wordpress install.

    Anyway, thanks for your help. If you ever figure it out, I'd love to know. I am sure it will help many people coming over from Local.

    I did a full migration from Local to Laragon just last week: have migrated all my sites to Laragon and couldn't be happier.

    The first thing you have to be aware of is the local domain, which in Local usually ends in '.local' so something like mydomain.local
    That is not the standard option in Laragon, so you have to change that in the Preferences under 'Auto Virtual Hosts' --> Hostname.
    If you don't do that, you'd have to replace all instances of '.local' in the database which is much more cumbersome.

    I have exported the full WordPress install files from the Local installation (so everything under 'app --> public' to Laragon, under the www --> mydomain directory. You only have to change the wp-config.php file as explained above.

    I also exported the database from the Local install. Make a new database in Laragon (Menu --> MySQL --> Create new database), make sure you give it the same name as your domain's directory, import your Local database into it and ... DONE!

    Hope this helps. It may seem cumbersome, but once you know how to do it every site only takes a few minutes to migrate.
