[phpmyadmin] I cannot reset my password

  • | 348 points

As of yesterday, I could access the database by using the credentials 'root' as username and leaving empty the password field. Today, I kept getting the error (mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/2054): The server requested authentication method unknown to the client), therefore I decided to reset it. I used the change root password option in the Laragon quick menu and I also edited the my.ini file (i uncommented the first line and insert the same password). Unluckily I am still getting the same error and I am unable to access the database anymore, I am using mysql 5.7.24.

    Any idea?

@alfiofederico : You can try resetting your MySQL root pass again. This time don't change my.ini (remove the old one from my.ini also)
    To test:

    1. Open Terminal
    2. Type:
    mysql -u root -p
    1. Enter your password

@leokhoa hi, thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately it doesn't work as after running the command I get the error: access denied for user root@localhost (using password:YES)

I have no clue what happened😕
